Planners today are facing unbelievable challenges, the likes of which they have never faced before. In March 2020 the Business World changed in an instant, as the global COVID pandemic made all our traditional planning systems useless to deal with the new business realities. Instantly Supply Chains that had worked well in the past, fell apart as the world has become a more volatile, uncertain, complex, and ambiguous (VUCA) place all at the same time. Suddenly, the term Supply Chain Management became associated with chaos and crisis, and became a major problem discussed by politicians at all levels. This was not the way we wanted to get our profession recognized.

In today’s world it looks as though we must live with permanent and ever-changing disruption, due to new variants, travel restrictions, capacity problems, staffing issues, container shortages, cargo terminal delays, ships unable to unload, and unacceptable inventory risks. This is the new reality, and our systems must be adapted to deal with these challenges.

In this session Keith will explain why Supply Chain Management is not a solution, Supply problems are created from demand problems, you simply cannot solve one side of the equation.

Keith will explain how Demand Driven planning provides a solution for this situation, and the answer is simple. We must adapt to the concept of product flow networks that can be rapidly adapted as business realities change.
